MarketingProfs thinks the “standard” elevator pitch is too long and also too wrong
The classic elevator pitch is too long, and it’s trying to accomplish too much, too soon.
The purpose of the elevator pitch is merely to get the first/next meeting – NOT to make the sale.
They suggest something they call a memory dart, and further go on to explain that it is the most excruciatingly difficult writing you/we will ever do.
Now, from their example, i can believe they’re right on this. It is more akin to a pickup line in a bar., – totally un-believeable.
